| The
second stage of the tour is aimed at discovering the Valle
del Centa, on the east face of the Vigolana massif. The Centa
torrent has chiselled a bitter and wild landscape that allows
a human presence only on the left side of the valley. Departing
from Vattaro you enter the Val dei Oveni. Once arrived at
Abele's house take the path to the left which, with some amazing
panoramic views, goes around the Sommi and leads to the area
of the "TORRE DEI SICCONI" (690 m), the remains
of an antique castle erected in 1201 and bombarded by the
Austrians in 1915. Proceed along the dirt road that leads
to Campregheri (770 m), from where the local road network
(also the SAT trail 428 from Caldonazzo) leads to Centa S.
Nicolò (800 m). Numerous mills, once active, and the
waterfall of Valimpach, fed by the underground emissary of
the Lavarone Lake, are evidence of the richness of water in
the area. It is interesting to observe the length of the ancient
military road "STRADA DELLA VAL CARRETTA",
an artery constructed by the Austrians on the opposite side
of the valley and used up until the '50s for motor vehicle
transit. After the hamlets of Stauderi and Cioli and the "BELVEDERE
DEL POSTER" (950 m), an antique prehistoric castle,
you get onto the state road no. 349 near the restaurant-bar
"Al Sindech" (1100 m). Follow this road for
some distance, crossing the Passo della Fricca (1113 m), and
after the tunnel return to the forest road network to Carbonare
(1074 m), hamlet of the municipality of Folgaria. |
