This
stage is relatively short and not technically difficult, but
is has such a strong historic and naturalistic value that
we recommend various stops to fully appreciate its contents.
From Luserna (1333 m) you retrace the last part of the preceding
day's route up to the turning for Malga Campo (1518 m), rising
to the left towards "FORTE CAMPO di LUSERNA"
(1549 m), one of the most remarkable military structures of
the highlands. From here the military road peacefully takes
you through the gentle hollows to Malga Millegrobbe di Sotto
(1424 m), a renown centre for cross-country skiing in the
winter season, where there are some trenches. Cross the road
in a northerly direction, following the sign no. 46 that takes
you to Malga Laghetto (1200 m), a place of naturalistic interest
due to the presence of the homonymous biotope and the arboreal
monument called "AVEZ DEL PRINZEP", a silver
fir of considerable size. You now pass onto the highland of
Lavarone, descending towards "FORTE BELVEDERE"
(1177 m) that houses the "MUSEO DEI FORTI DEGLI ALTIPIANI"
(museum of the highland forts). You then reach Gionghi,
seat of the town hall of the municipality of Lavarone (1170
m). Here the "MUSEO DEL MIELE" (museum of
apiculture), which houses an interesting collection of equipment
and information concerning the world of bees and bee-keeping,
is well worth a visit. |
